The Opportunity
We are looking for a Sales Manager to contribute and execute the sales and business development strategy of the business unit’s products in the markets of the area of responsibility.
The Rio Tinto office in Gurgaon, (India) forms one of our many corporate hubs and houses various service and support functions, as well as a portfolio of product groups including; Copper, Coal, Iron Ore, Diamonds& Minerals, Exploration and Technology & Innovation.
What the role entails
This role is a great opportunity for an individual to be involved in the sale of products and services using technical, commercial, organizational, and customer knowledge to influence customers and assist them in
applying the products/services to their needs resulting in revenue generation. Working a 5 days on, 2 off roster and reporting to the Commercial Manager Sales (South West Asia – SWA), you will be involved in:
Formulation and Execution of Sales Plan
Gathering and sharing Market Intelligence / Regulatory Changes
Sales Forecasting and Reporting
Stakeholder Management which includes managing SWA Agriculture Distributors and Direct Agricultural Accounts
Developing new Agricultural customers and new Agricultural distributors in SWA and align the business
Development accordingly with overall SWA sales strategy
Providing in depth knowledge of Borate fertilizers to customers, government agents, researchers, etc to drive borate use
Adhering to and following HSEQ expected behaviours and policies. This includes aligning with a Zero Harm objective
What you will need for this role
To succeed in this role, you will have:
6-7 years of experience in sales and market development, preferable of agricultural
Products
Bachelors of Science in agronomy or agricultural science with an additional qualification in marketing/ market development/ business management will be preferred
In depth knowledge of sales processes including: planning and budgeting, marketing, legal and commercial issues, agreeing contracts, tax and duty structures and implications, competitive intelligence, knowledge of relevant Legislation on EHS issues and trade sanctions/limitations
An excellent and proficient communicator who has had exposure to relations with government and senior management levels within the leading companies in the industry
Strong negotiation skills with appropriate category of customers, minimum 3 (ideally 5) years’ experience in commercial negotiation
It will be beneficial if you have:
Strongly preferable experience of the use of micronutrients and specifically borates in agriculture, both in the fertilizer industry and through pesticide distribution
